Other activities in the outdoors include flat-water canoeing (Loch Tay), winter climbing, geo-caching (treasure hunting!), horse-riding (Loch Tay), scuba diving (Oban) and gold-panning (River Cononish).
Or you can simply go out and appreciate the highland flora (including alpine varieties and orchids) and fauna (red deer, seals, buzzards, tawny owls, long eared bats, foxes, moths and butterfies are all common). The area is a classic example of a glacial landscape.
More sedate pass-times on offer include cruises on Loch Lomond, golf (Killin), whisky distillery tours (Oban, and Dewars in Aberfeldy), and the Jacobite steam train.
