For guests interested in fishing, permits for a day's or week's fishing on the nearby River Fillan are available from the local shop.
The River Fillan becomes the River Cononish upstream, and is part of the River Tay system. Permits allow fishing along the 10 mile (16km) stretch on the south side of the river between the viaduct over the River Cononish (NN334286) and Loch Lubhair (NN432270). With a permit, salmon (15th January to 15th October only, different permit required), brown trout (15th March-6th October), perch and char can be caught.
All conventional fishing methods are allowed - the main rules are: no swim feeders, no gaffs, no rod rests, one rod per person, and no salmon fishing on a Sunday.
In addition to the stretch described above, permits for the river down-stream of Auchessan Farm (NN447277) are also available locally.
Further information on fishing the Tay system is available here. It is also possible to go sea-fishing at Oban.
