If are interested in seeing the countryside without climbing
a Munro, there are less demanding walks locally. There are of course smaller hills nearby (for example Grey Height at the back of the hostel), which can give a taste of the Scottish landscape. Guests also enjoy walking part of the (way-marked) West-Highland-Way - returning by public transport. Alternatively: the River Fillan can be followed for several kilometers north from the village along a very pleasant path along the bank, a disused railway line now forms a tree-lined path to the east of the village (see photo), or there is a short walk starting from the hostel through a community woodland planted in 2005.
Remember: the Access Legislation in Scotland means that (providing the livelihoods and privacy of landowners are properly respected) walkers have access to any open land - so guests can make up their own routes!
