The landscape around Crianlarich is beautiful and mountainous, making it very popular as a centre for walking (hiking). There are 11 Munros (3000ft+ hills) within walking distance, and over 20 more within a short drive. There are also a number of less strenuous local walks, in addition to the 96-mile-long West Highland Way route which runs past Crianlarich.
Visitors unused to walking in Scotland should be aware that, with the exception of the West Highland Way, there are no sign posts or way-marking, and paths are often indistinct - being able to navigate is a good idea. For some of the year, munro routes will be snowy and may require ice-axe and crampons.
Guests come to appreciate that these aspects of Scottish hill walking are part-and-parcel of being in a wild landscape - it is no coincidence that a first visit is rarely the last!
